Our Story

DCI is recognised as the very best in hairdressing education within the industry, having won multiple awards, including the 2024 AHFA Educator of the Year. Additionally, DCI has been awarded Educator of the Year seven other times and was inducted into the Dennis Langford Hall of Fame at the AHIA in 2022. Founded by Dario Cotroneo, DCI Education provides high-quality hairdressing training to hairdressers of all levels worldwide.

DCI PHILOSOPHY

The DCI philosophy is to create amazing memories for hairdressers to reflect on throughout their careers by teaching beautiful cutting and styling techniques. By educating not just how to cut hair, but why, our students gain the confidence to reach a higher level within our industry and are inspired to pass their learnings on to future generations. We wish to create an industry of highly educated individuals within an honest, fun environment.

DCI cutting techniques are simplified and commercially viable, allowing hairdressers to use them immediately on the salon floor after our courses. In addition to our technical education, we share information on how to interact with clients and deliver luxurious services. It’s a holistic approach to education. We believe that combining technical knowledge with salon service expertise, enriched by the educator’s personal experience, provides the most valuable and well-rounded learning for our students. This is something they happily pass on to their colleagues, fostering continued growth and development for themselves and others.

DCI MENTORING

We believe our Mentor Program is innovative and unique to the industry because students are mentored throughout the entire year. This structure provides much more than just a fleeting buzz from a one-off course that can gradually lose its impact over time. We design and educate students with a new approach to haircutting, refreshing their technical skills and pushing boundaries each month. This ensures they stay on a positive path and experience personal growth throughout the year. We love this distinctive approach to education.

DCI PLATFORMS

DCI continues to provide a wide range of hairdressing training options, not only to students, but also for salon owners. We have an online subscription with over 160 step by step videos, virtual hands on education, face-to-face workshops and seminars and in-salon training that is uniquely structured to suit the individual salons needs and staff.

With all our courses as well as in-salon training, DCI is unique in that we only take up to 10 students per class. This ensures that our level of teaching is of a high standard. All students are catered to, no matter their needs or ability. Our students always comment how wonderful it is to feel like they have had a ‘one-on-one’ experience, despite being in a small class group.

DCI ONLINE

The DCI online presence was designed to support a “learn anywhere, anytime” approach to flexible learning. It also serves as a backup for aftercare learning following programs or courses with us, all without the aid of sponsorship from larger product companies. This keeps our content and message focused on pure education.
